Job Summary
This role leads the overall operational success, safety, quality, and financial sustainability of a manufacturing facility specializing in extruded and agglomerated food items. Responsible for crafting both immediate and strategic plans to support the diverse business units within the facility, the position ensures operations are efficient, safe, and meet regulatory and food safety standards while synchronizing with broader corporate goals.
Candidates should possess robust experience in managing intricate, highly-regulated manufacturing environments, with a proven track record in leadership across various departments.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Manage daily operations across various segments to maintain operational consistency, discipline, and adherence to customer deliverables.
- Develop and implement strategies at the site level that align production, quality, cost, and service with overarching business objectives.
- Communicate effectively and provide strategic leadership for multiple departments to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations.
- Standardize operating procedures, set performance benchmarks, and govern the facility?s operations.
- Balance customer demand with production plans to optimize output and resource utilization.
**Safety, Environmental & Compliance**
- Uphold and promote a robust safety culture, ensuring full compliance with OSHA, EPA regulations, and chemical process safety management.
- Oversee safety processes, material management, dust control, and environmental programs, leading audits and inspections.
- Maintain a safe work environment through policy enforcement, regular audits, and fostering a culture of safety awareness.
**Leadership & Development**
- Provide leadership to site teams through direct engagement and example.
- Enhance leadership skills through coaching, performance discussions, and succession planning.
- Align and collaborate across Operations, EHS, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and HR.
- Cultivate a workplace atmosphere of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
**Maintenance & Engineering**
- Lead predictive and preventive maintenance strategies to enhance asset reliability.
- Ensure efficient aging asset management and spare parts strategy implementation.
- Collaborate with Engineering on plant advancements including expansions and automation.
**Continuous Improvement & Change Leadership**
- Spearhead Lean, Six Sigma, and Operational Excellence initiatives.
- Drive the standardization of systems and processes across the site.
- Optimize workforce utilization to be cost effective.
- Facilitate change management to support growth and transition.
**Financial & Business Performance**
- Implement initiatives to drive productivity and cost efficiency, maintaining safety and quality standards.
- Support strategic projects like facility expansions, new product startups, and process enhancements.
**Qualifications**
- **Education:** Bachelor?s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Food Science, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
- **Experience:** 6-12+ years in manufacturing leadership within food production environments.
- **Skills and Knowledge:** Comprehensive understanding of safety, quality systems, and regulatory standards; adept in financial oversight and manufacturing acumen.
